Product Description

Horizontal colloid mills, also known as split-type mills, are characterized by the separation of the motor from the mill body. Even if the material is blocked, the motor will not be damaged. However, their transmission efficiency is lower and their price is higher than that of vertical colloid mills.

Key Features of horizontal colloid mill

Separate Motor and Grinding Head

  • Less Thermal Interference,Horizontal colloid mills typically employ a split structure, with the motor and grinding head base installed separately and driven by a belt.
  • This design ensures that the heat generated by the motor and the heat generated by the grinding head do not interfere with each other, preventing motor damage due to overheating and making it more suitable for long-term continuous operation.

Higher Output and Better Efficiency

  • The horizontal structure, through a belt drive system, allows the grinding gear speed to be higher than the motor speed (similar to the principle of a multi-speed bicycle), thus achieving higher linear velocity and shear force with the same motor power.
  • Actual measurements show that the output of a horizontal colloid mill of the same power and model is significantly higher than that of a vertical one.

Good Installation Stability and Convenient Maintenance

  • The horizontal design has a low overall center of gravity, resulting in smoother operation and less vibration, making it particularly suitable for large-scale or high-precision operations.
  • The split design facilitates individual maintenance of the motor or grinding head without the need for overall disassembly.

More Reasonable Axial Positioning Design (for Specific Working Conditions)

  • Although horizontal colloid mills need to consider the axial movement of the motor shaft (requiring front cover bearings, etc.), modern products have effectively solved this problem through structural optimization.
  • In contrast, while vertical mills naturally suppress axial movement due to the motor’s own weight, they are taller, occupy more space, and require higher factory ceiling heights.

High Discharge Flexibility (Requires a Discharge Valve)

If the discharge port of a horizontal colloid mill faces upwards, a discharge valve can be installed below to facilitate the emptying of residual material after shutdown, preventing sedimentation or deterioration.
